Cruise to Nowhere With Our Only Child

Cruise with only child

When I first told Luis about the cruise to nowhere (available here in Singapore), he looked at me suspiciously!

The idea of a round-trip sailing without a destination and being stuck in a vessel for 3 nights did not look attractive to him.

However, with my usual persistence and pretentious psychology, I convinced him that it would be the best getaway we could get, especially for Olivia!

She was on school break for 3 weeks, which would be the perfect entertainment during the Covid times – where few options are available.

As a result, we spent 3 fantastic nights aboard this impressive vessel (Quantum of the Seas – Royal Caribbean).

So much to do and see in these 2 and half days.

Father and daughter on a cruise

Olivia's dream started as soon as we embarked on the ship – she could get free ice cream!!!

She did not waste her time and enjoyed it even before the ship began sailing.

You can clearly see that she is more concerned about her ice cream than the surroundings….

After pre-dessert, she was ready for dinner! By the way, she had a real dessert after it…

So her dream really came true, having as many "desserts" as possible!

The next day, Olivia was ready to begin her quest! She explored every single floor (by stairs because this is her idea of fun!!) and even went to the pool.

Unfortunately, it was windy and rainy outside – really cold to Singapore standards and especially to mine!

She (meaning we…) had it all during the day.

From the moment we woke up till very late in the night.

The highlight was the bumper car. I lost count of how many rides we had.

After what I thought would be the last one, it always ended up as "one more, please!".

We also tried the ifly – 1 minute of what is supposed to be a skydive experience.

Well, let's say it must be real if there will be the next time.

The activities continued the following day. We've watched 3 shows – Olivia and I were struck by the beauty of the StarWater musical.

I was super excited seeing all that sparkling production, acrobatics, and stunning choreographed dance. I love it!

From her constant smiles, you can clearly see that she had a great time!

This is what we needed after months without packing a bag.

Despite not being a "conventional" trip, it was a delightful reward for us who love traveling and an enjoyable escape from the routine.

And the bonus for my introverted side is that the ship was less than half of its capacity due to the current restrictions.

Hence, apart from the bumper cars where we had to wait in line for almost 1 hour (the first round of many), everything else was an absolute breeze (and safe!)!

Yes, it was definitely worth it, and we are anxiously looking forward to our next real voyage!!!
