11 Celebrity Mothers to an Only Child

Mother with only child

A couple of months ago, I wrote a post listing some famous only children.

This time, I'm dedicating this post to all one-and-done moms by sharing a list of women I admire – and they happen to be celebrity mothers to an only child!

Not all famous figures are like Angelina Jolie, who is happy to have six kids.

These celebrities are well-known moms to only children and have their reasons for it.

They might have more kids in the future; who knows?

But for now, they seem pretty happy and proud of having one child. Just like me! 🙂

1. Amy Adams

Amy Lou Adams (born August 20, 1974) is an American actress and film producer.

She is the fourth of seven children born to American parents.

Interesting fact: she was born in Italy while her family was stationed there!

Amy has appeared in major productions such as Doubt (2008), Julie & Julia (2009), Arrival (2016), and Justice League (2017), among many others.

In 2010, Amy and her partner Darren Le Gallo welcomed their daughter Aviana Olea Le Gallo.

She's made it clear that her daughter will not have a sibling.

In an interview with Chelsea Lately a couple of years back, she said:

"People give you a look. They're like, 'When are you having another?' And you're like, 'I'm not.' And then you feel like a bad person. They're like, 'Don't you want to give her a sibling?' But I had so many siblings that I'm like, 'God, no!'"

2 – Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes celebrity mother

Their only child was born amidst intense public interest.

Then, after roughly seven years together, the couple divorced.

Katie claimed during interviews that though she has four siblings, she lived the life of an only child because she's the youngest.

"I'm the youngest in my family—my closest sister is five years older than me, and the next one is nine years ahead of me, so I was a bit of an only child, and I liked it! I liked having all of my mom's attention, and sometimes I think I still do."

  3 – Sofia Vergara

Then, in 2014, Sofia had her first date with actor Joe Manganiello, and a year later, the couple tied the knot in a Hollywood-style ceremony.

People have always kept wondering whether the couple will have a baby together.

While she has yet to express herself to be one and done clearly, she has indicated that it's not a priority.

"And if it happens (having a child with Joe), it will be something that will make us very happy, but it's not a priority in our lives."
